History:


Richard is the half-blood son of Lord Southborne, a muggle nobleman, and his second wife, the witch Estelle Lacroix. A vain woman with a lust for social status, Estelle had use her powers to entrance Lord Southborne, who she had married for his wealth. She hid her true nature from her husband, careful to use her skills when her husband wasn't looking, and casting Memory charms on servants unlucky enough to catch her out. But the time came when her two small children began to exhibit magical traits. At first Estelle tried to hide the truth from her husband but when Richard's magical traits became increasingly visible, she was forced to confess, fearing that she and the children would be packed off to a cottage on the family estate in disgrace. Instead Lord Southborne embraced his family and swore to conceal the truth from their friends and relatives. Richard was educated at his father's country house by a muggle governess, alongside his sister Louise. Never interested in books or learning, Richard spent as much time as possible in the countryside, playing with the children of servants, riding horses and generally getting into trouble. Since Estelle's magical skills were not powerful (except when it came to glamouring her own appearance or performing memory charms), Richard grew up with almost no knowledge of the wizarding world, and could only perform a couple of very minor spells before his letter to Hogwarts arrived.

At Hogwarts, Richard found himself at a major disadvantage compared to pureblood students and even many of his fellow half-bloods. His lack of interest in education continued and be barely passed most of his first year exams. He has got a little better since, especially in areas like Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, where he exhibits a natural skill, but he always preferred outdoor lessons like flying and Care of Magical Creatures. He has been a beater on the Quidditch team for 2 years.

Richard is a mischievous student who is frequently in detention for getting into trouble or slacking on homework. He has discovered some of Hogwarts' secret passages and has been known to sneak out to Hogsmeade outside of the approved times.
